This $1000 scholarship is in honor of Frank Sumbera who devoted 49 years of service as a baseball coach in the state of Michigan (Grosse Pointe North High School) and also as a longtime member of the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association. 

The recipients of this scholarship will have the characteristics of outstanding scholarship, work ethic, service and leadership. This scholarship is open to any senior baseball player that is planning on attending college. Consideration will be given to all applicants, especially applicants  who have a parent that is a member of the MHSBCA. The scholarships will be awarded annually to up to five recipients, based on the criteria provided and the decision of the scholarship committee. Financial need will also be considered, but not limited as all of the criteria outlined must also be met by the applicant. This will be a one time non renewable award that will be deposited into the account of the student at their respective college of attendance. The student must complete one full semester and enrolled the following semester in good academic standard with at least 12 credit hours.
